The origin of Optima Capital Limited ("Optima") began in 1989 when Kim Eng Research (Hong Kong) Limited was established. With its name changed to Kim Eng Capital (Hong Kong) Limited in July 1993, and later on to KE Capital (Hong Kong) Limited in April 2004, the Company has been actively engaging in corporate finance services. To reflect a change in ownership, in June 2005, a further name change to VXL Financial Services Limited took place.

On 1 August 2007, Ms Mei Leung, Optima's Chairman, acquired the entire share capital of the Company and changed its name to Optima. Optima subsequently became jointly owned by its senior management team.

On 30 April 2019, Optima became a 60% subsidiary of Realord International Financial Group Limited which is in turn a wholly-owned subsidiary of Realord Group Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock Code: 1196). The management of Optima remains unchanged.

Ms. Leung has over 25 years' experience in structuring highly sophisticated commercial transactions in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising for private and listed companies, takeovers, new issues, as well as in sponsoring public stock offerings. Numerous corporate finance and related transactions have been concluded over the years under Ms Leung's leadership.

The Company is licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong for Type 1 (dealing in securities), Type 4 (advising on securities) and Type 6 (advising on corporate finance) regulated activities under Schedule 5 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance. CE registration number: AAH672.
